Welcome to Swish and Sway®, an independent trader in the heart of North Yorkshire, UK.
As well as bemusing my two cats and one husband, reading, drinking tea and searching for inspiration for new designs, I love my own small business selling vintage inspired ladies and girls clothing, which I started in August 2017. It makes my heart smile every time my customers come out of the changing room, look in the mirror and smile at their reflection. Even better when they give in to the urge to have a twirl about in frock or petticoat, it makes my day brighter every single time. So swish and sway all you like ladies, you might even find me joining in.
I stock ladies clothing and accessories in sizes 6-26 and girls in ages 3-4 to 11-12. Brands include Lindy Bop, Hearts and Roses, Collectif, Miss Fortune, Banned Dancing Days, Flowercrown Magic, Down the Rabbit Hole and others. I mostly have 50s-style clothing, as I love the fit and shape of that era, I find them more flattering, especially if (like me!) you have a few lumps and bumps you prefer to disguise.
I can be found most Sundays in the historic
York Shambles Market in the centre of beautiful York. You'll find me on stall 61, quite close to the food court, just look for the rainbow of fluffy petticoats and you'll find me and occasionally my ever-helpful hubster standing in whilst I have a browse of the other stalls.
The first Saturday of each month between April and December I'll be at
Leeds Kirkgate Market with the fab AdVintageous Vintage Fair team. Always a good atmosphere, and handy for a cuppa or bite to eat in between browsing the stalls.
If I'm not in Shambles or Kirkgate Market, it'll be because I'm off at a vintage festival, you'll find details of where you can see me over on the
Events page.
New for 2019, you can visit 53 Bo'Grove, Grove Road, Harrogate and try on a wide selection of my stock. My space is on the ground floor, next to the till. Opening hours are Mon-Sat 9-5 and Sun 10-6. There's plenty of parking, a café and a fab selection of independent vintage and retro traders.
